Quick answer
There are six Oni Armaments. When you reach an Armament route, write down the weapon name, mission or chest, area, interaction, and combat effect. Use Missions for the objective and Completion for the wider cleanup plan.
Location checklist
| Armament | Where to look | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| The Two Celestials | The Stage Is Set at Kiyomizu: after following the second spider thread into the cave, defeat the spider and open the entangled chest before opening the gate. | Twin daggers that make enemies drop more Yellow Souls, useful when you need healing. |
| Wind-Whipper | The Oni’s Apprentice: complete the Deflect practice at the Practice Ground. | A crowd-control weapon; nearby fire can turn its wind into a firestorm. |
| Earth Shakers | What Lurks in the Shadows: after the descending-blade trap, shoot the four thread spools and open the chest beyond the wreckage. | Deals heavy stamina damage and helps expose armored enemies for Break Issen. |
| Firebird Flute | Shadows Fall: check the chest south of the Gojo Street East Spirit Mirror after the Rift route. | Summons flaming birds for ranged fire damage. |
| The Flashing Void | The Demon on the Mount: search the cave in the northern Castle Courtyard route instead of staying on the main path. | A high-damage spear that can remove non-boss enemies in one strike. |
| Still Water | Arashiyama, on the small path north of the Swamp map. | Strengthens the sword and makes attacks drop Purple Souls for the Oni Awakening meter. |
Decision path
- If the Armament is part of the current objective, collect it before leaving the area.
- If the route is optional, note the mission name and finish the story task only when the return path is clear.
- After pickup, check the weapon’s effect in the equipment menu before changing your whole build.
- Mark the set entry in Achievements and continue with the next route.

Use the gate and objective context to recognise the kind of route checkpoint involved; the mission name remains the key to the correct pickup.
Which Armament solves which problem?
- Low health: use The Two Celestials to create more Yellow Souls.
- Crowd pressure: use Wind-Whipper to stagger nearby enemies.
- Armored enemy or boss stamina: use Earth Shakers before a Break Issen.
- Enemies grouped around fire: use Wind-Whipper’s firestorm interaction or Firebird Flute for ranged pressure.
- A dangerous ordinary enemy: use The Flashing Void for its high single-target damage.
- Building Oni Awakening: use Still Water when its Purple Soul effect fits the encounter.
Keep the weapon route separate
Normal equipment, upgrade materials, Hidden Treasures, and Oni Armaments can appear in the same area but answer different questions. Use Items for purpose and spending, Hidden Treasures for the five drawing routes, and this page for the six-weapon set.
Full route notes
The Two Celestials: do not leave the second thread cave early
During The Stage Is Set at Kiyomizu, the second spider thread leads into a cave. Defeat the spider and inspect the entangled chest before returning to the gate. The armament is useful in large-target encounters because it increases the chance of Yellow Soul drops and can support healing during a long route. If the chest is not open, check that the spider encounter has ended and that you followed the second thread rather than the first platform route.
Wind-Whipper: finish the Practice Ground task
Wind-Whipper comes from The Oni’s Apprentice. Complete the Deflect practice at the Practice Ground rather than leaving after the tutorial prompt. Its normal use is nearby crowd control; when fire is present, its wind interaction can create a firestorm. This makes it a practical answer to a group problem, not a replacement for a single-target boss weapon.
Earth Shakers: the four-spool checkpoint
In What Lurks in the Shadows, continue past the descending blade trap and shoot the four thread spools. The chest beyond the wreckage contains Earth Shakers. If you reach the chest area but cannot open it, check that all four spools have been hit. The weapon deals heavy stamina damage and is especially useful when an armoured enemy needs to be exposed for a Break Issen.
Firebird Flute: search south of the Gojo Street East mirror
During Shadows Fall, clear the Rift route and then inspect the chest south of the Gojo Street East Spirit Mirror. Firebird Flute summons flaming birds for ranged fire damage. Because the chest sits away from the obvious combat objective, return to it after the Rift is safe.
The Flashing Void: the northern Castle Courtyard cave
The Flashing Void is found in the cave on the northern Castle Courtyard route during The Demon on the Mount. It is a high-damage spear and can remove non-boss enemies in one strike. Use it when a dangerous ordinary enemy is the problem; do not assume a single-hit effect applies to bosses.
Still Water: the Arashiyama side path
Still Water is in Arashiyama on the small path north of the Swamp map. Its effect strengthens the sword and causes attacks to drop Purple Souls for the Oni Awakening meter. Because it is a late exploration pickup, use the Walkthrough route first and mark the side path for the return trip if the story objective is sending you elsewhere.
Armament choice by encounter
| Combat problem | First armament to consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You need healing during a large fight | The Two Celestials | More Yellow Soul opportunities. |
| Several enemies crowd the player | Wind-Whipper | Nearby stagger and firestorm interaction. |
| Armour or stamina is the barrier | Earth Shakers | Heavy stamina pressure and Break Issen setup. |
| Enemies are separated from you | Firebird Flute | Flaming bird projectiles. |
| One ordinary enemy is dangerous | The Flashing Void | High damage and a possible one-strike result on non-boss enemies. |
| You want more Oni Awakening resource | Still Water | Sword attacks produce Purple Souls. |
Completion check
After every pickup, open the equipment or weapon list once to make sure the Armament is available. If one entry is missing, search by its named route rather than repeating every chest. The six-weapon set is small enough to use the mission, chest, and effect as a single checklist.
